Former WWE Superstar Darren Drozdov, known simply as Droz, has passed away. Pwinsider first reported the news.
Droz was part of the new Legion of Doom in 1998 at a time when he was being considered as a potential permanent replacement for Road Warrior Hawk.
Droz’s life changed forever on October 5, 1999, when he worked a match against D’Lo Brown at a WWE taping at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, Long Island, NY. Droz slipped during a powerbomb sequence, fell and fractured two vertebrae in his neck.
Droz never walked again, losing most of the movement below his neck. He did regain some movement in his arms and his upper body.
After the incident, while on a stretcher waiting to be taken to a hospital backstage at the venue, Drozdov told Brown not to blame himself.
Our thoughts are with Drozdov’s family during this difficult time.
