Freddie Prinze Jr has been an enormous wrestling fan for most of his life. He recently announced that he’s creating his wrestling promotion which he has stated will be part of SAG. The Star Wars voice-over actor wants any wrestler who comes into his promotion to have health insurance and be treated properly. Though Prinze Jr hasn’t confirmed any big signings yet, he mentioned that he has kept up with AEW and thinks one recent storyline told there might be the best in quite a while.
Speaking on his “Wrestling with Freddie” podcast, the former actor gave massive props to the CM Punk/MJF rivalry:
“I do give AEW credit for the best wrestling story in over a decade with the MJF and CM Punk storyline. Which, if you haven’t seen it, I’m sure someone edited it together on YouTube, if not, AEW themselves and their social media and YouTube group, they cut together some pretty awesome stuff.”
Punk began feuding with MJF in late 2021. The two had traded victories with one another and had almost encountered each other after MJF’s infamous “pipe bomb” promo a few weeks ago on AEW Dynamite. MJF has yet to be seen on television since his infamous promo, while Punk recently had to relinquish the AEW World Heavyweight Championship due to injury.
