Considered by many to be the highlight of SmackDown, Sami Zayn’s angle with The Bloodline has recently earned him some praise from actor and former WWE creative team writer, Freddie Prinze Jr.
Zayn’s most recent efforts have involved him endearing himself to the Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns and The Usos. While Jey Uso remains unsupportive of Zayn’s position with the Bloodline, Sami has seemingly earned the respect of the rest of the members, including recent addition Solo Sikoa.
On the September 23rd episode of WWE SmackDown, Zayn was officially named an “Honorary Uce” and was given a t-shirt by Roman Reigns. Since then, Zayn has competed in singles and tag team matches with Solo Sikoa by his side.
On the latest episode of his “Wrestling With Freddie” podcast, Prinze Jr. lauded over Sami Zayn’s character and how he believes Zayn is the star of Friday Night SmackDown. He said,
“No one will believe me when I say this, but Sami Zayn is the lead of ‘Friday Night SmackDown,’ he is. He’s the Cary Grant of this movie; he’s the Clark Gable of this movie. Dare I say he’s the 90s Freddie Prinze Jr. of that movie. I loved this. I thought it was so great. [He’s] the greatest performer in the world. There’s Marlon Brando, there’s Bette Davis, and there’s Sami Zayn. And that’s not even in the right order.
