American Alpha, comprising of Jason Jordan and Chad Gable, was among the most promising pairings in WWE that made history by becoming the only team to have won tag team championships in both NXT and WWE’s main roster in the same year.
The team disbanded on July 17, 2017, after Jordan moved to RAW while Gable stayed on SmackDown.
During their time in NXT, Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood of FTR (fka The Revival) had quite a rivalry with American Alpha. The two teams locked horns on multiple occasions and delivered classic matches that fans cherish up until this day.
On Twitter, Wheeler and Harwood reminisced on their matchups against American Alpha and DIY in WWE NXT. Wheeler wrote,
“I’ll always look back on these matches and this time period as some of the best times of my life. I wish I could still wrestle American Alpha. Hundreds of matches together and I never got tired of it. The things they could’ve accomplished. Two relatively unknown and unproven teams hitting their strides together at the same time. Both teams having breakout performances in the Dusty Classic. Our careers were so intertwined for the first few years. I thought we’d be wrestling each other in our 60’s.”
Dax added,
