Gangrel Makes His AEW TV Debut On This Week’s Episode Of Rampage

On this week’s episode of AEW Rampage, Gangrel made his TV debut for the promotion.

The former New Brood stablemate of The Hardys accompanied The Young Bucks & Brandon Cutler (they dressed as The Hardys & Lita) to ringside for their match. After The Young Bucks defeated Taylor Rust & John Cruz, Gangrel joined them in the ring to celebrate.

Gangrel got some spotlight before The Young Bucks turned on him. This prompted The Hardys to come out to make the save. As they looked set to deliver a double Twist of Fate, Brandon Cutler unsuccessfully struck them from behind. As The Young Bucks escaped, Gangrel drilled Cutler with his Impaler DDT finisher.

This was the first time The New Brood had been together on TV since 1999. Gangrel was originally scheduled to appear with AEW last year, several months after a successful cameo during The Elite Deletion match between Matt Hardy & Sammy Guevara at Full Gear 2020. He was to appear on an August episode of Dynamite in Milwaukee, WI with a special entrance and his theme music.

However, the appearance was cancelled because WWE had Edge use The Brood’s entrance and “Brood Bath” on Seth Rollins during the SummerSlam go-home edition of SmackDown, so AEW changed direction. Edge then used The Brood’s entrance for the SummerSlam win over Rollins, which made it more unlikely. Gangrel said on a podcast that AEW was cool enough to still pay him for the appearance. Around the same time, he released new merchandise for The Brood via his FNBGangrel.com website, but this has since become unavailable. It’s unknown if Gangrel will regularly appear for AEW in the future.
