AEW Dynamite: Holiday Bash featured a marquee title clash between two of the most talented athletes on the All Elite Wrestling women’s roster, as Jamie Hayter put the AEW Women’s World Championship on the line against Hikaru Shida in the main event.
In an incredible match, Hayter nailed Shida with a Ripcord Lariat to retain the title.
Although Shida failed to dethrone Hayter, she scored a more personal victory as this was her first time wrestling in the main event of Dynamite.
Shida took to Twitter to comment on her maiden AEW main event, wishing she had won the title match. She wrote,
“It was one of my goals for long time to be on #AEWDynamite main event. I really really wanted to win…..SAMURAI gonna rise again.”

During her 372-day reign as AEW women’s world champion, Shida had scored eight successful title defenses with five of them taking place on Dynamite.
However, Shida never got the opportunity to defend the AEW Women’s World Championship in the main event of either Dynamite or a pay-per-view.
