Claudio Castagnoli has another accolade to his impressive career after winning CMLL’s Grand Prix in a huge win for the ex-ROH World Champion.
On the August 23, 2024, edition of CMLL’s Viernes Espectacular show, the promotion held the 2024 International Showcase Elimination ‘Grand Prix’ tag match.
The show saw Team Mexico (Máscara Dorada, Volador Jr., Esfinge, Euforia, El Valiente, Templario, Místico, Titán, Ultimo Guerrero, and Atlantis Jr.).
They faced Team World (Castagnoli, Yota Tsuji, Davey Boy Smith Jr., Mansoor, Ikuro Kwon, Flip Gordon, Robbie X, AKIRA, Rocky Romero, and Kyle Fletcher.)
The match resulted in Castagnoli getting the win over Volador Jr. in the Swiss Cyborg’s second appearance for CMLL.
With this win, Castagnoli becomes the first-ever Swiss wrestler to win the Gran Prix and the sixth non-Mexican wrestler to achieve the accolade.
