The man who was the real-life inspiration for the Eugene character in WWE has passed away. It was announced that Eugene Palermo passed away at 57-years-old after living with Down Syndrome his entire life. Palermo actually served as a ring boy for WWE.
Palermo’s father, Bucky, was a professional wrestling referee in the Pittsburgh area for 30 years, including some WWE live events. His son got involved through him.
Nick Dinsmore portrayed the Eugene character in WWE, which was inspired by Rip Rogers’ son who lives with autism. The character was named Eugene in honor of Palermo.
