With the Royal Rumble pay-per-view event only a month away, rumors have been swirling about possible returns and debuts in both the men’s and women’s featured battle royals at the event. 30 entrants are needed for each match, which obviously adds fuel to the fire to these rumblings.
One name speculated on is Kairi Sane, who departed the promotion in December of last year.
Dave Meltzer reports that “as of this past weekend there has been no contact from WWE to STARDOM (Kairi is under contract to them now as IWGP women’s champion) asking for her. That could come later as WWE puts together that match and needs 30 women, but there is the obvious politics. Of course there was those same politics of using Mickie James from Impact last year and WWE did call later and put that deal together.”
The Royal Rumble takes place on Saturday, January 28 in San Antonio, Texas.
