WWE’s attempts to elevate anybody to the top of the promotion will be in vain as long as Roman Reigns is the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.
Reigns has surpassed 1,000 days as Universal Champion and was presented with a new Undisputed WWE Universal Championship title for his efforts on last week’s episode of WWE SmackDown.
Due to his dominant run, WWE has created the World Heavyweight Championship which is currently held by Seth Rollins.
During a recent edition of his “Drive Thru” podcast, Jim Cornette argued that WWE’s attempts to establish Rollins as ‘the guy’ on RAW is not going to work with Reigns around. He said,
“No, because it’s not that, again, I mean, they did a great number. RAW is rocking, and so is SmackDown. But it’s just not the guy. With Roman Reigns, the guy, nobody else can be the guy. Any kind of world champion, Universal Champion, global champion, whatever descriptor you’re gonna use for it, you gotta be the guy.”
Rollins has defended his championship three times since winning the gold on May 27. Reigns has defended his title zero times in the same time frame.
