WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross was recently a guest on “Busted Open Radio” to discuss several professional wrestling topics. One topic of discussion, of course, was All Elite Wrestling (AEW), who Ross recently signed on with to serve as the voice of the promotion at the commentary desk.
“Good Ole’ JR” was asked if he thinks WWE CEO Vince McMahon is worried about the rise of AEW, which has already acquired a stellar roster with notable names, and has some huge financial backing. Not to mention a rumored TV deal in place with a major cable network.
Here’s what Ross had to say:
“I do not know that he is concerned about anybody. I really doubt it. He is bullet proof in that regard. The worst mistake AEW can make is trying to change WWE. We do not need to chase them. I’m sure there is financial concern.
I asked about a undercard guy in WWE that helps the other guys learn and they said he was not available because he just signed a new WWE deal for $500K. Not because he would be used but just to keep him off the streets.”
