Jon Moxley became interim AEW World Champion last night at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door. After the match, Moxley cut a passionate promo expressing his love for pro wrestling and praising the newest AEW roster member, Claudio Castagnoli. Moxley called pro wrestling “the best sport, the best f**king thing in the world” and was joined by Eddie Kingston, Proud & Powerful and his Blackpool Combat Club stablemates in Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta and William Regal.
He also had some choice words for The Jericho Appreciation Society:
“The Jericho Appreciation Society represents filthy, scuzzy sports entertainment. Maybe there’s a time and a place for sports entertainment, but here in AEW, professional wrestling rules!”
Tony Khan then introduced Brodie Lee’s son, -1, who hyped up the Chicago crowd and playfully singled out everyone in the ring. Once Khan gave -1 the mic, he yelled, “Chicago!” before calmly saying, “It feels good. It feels good to be here.” The crowd then began a loud “Brodie” chant.
