KAIRI may no longer be part of the WWE roster, but the Japanese wrestler has been able to look back fondly on her time with the company.
In 2018, KAIRI (then Kairi Sane) was called up from NXT and forged a tag team with Asuka named The Kabuki Warriors.
Together, the pair would hold the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships for 180 days, a record that stands to this day.
Speaking to “The Ten Count” via an interpreter, KAIRI expressed her delight about being able to work with Asuka, The interpreter said,
“The team with Asuka, The Kabuki Warriors, was really a special moment. It felt like a dream for her. Backstage, they were always super close. They were always talking about wrestling together. But yea, it was really special for KAIRI to have that tag team with Asuka.”
One of the team’s title defenses would come at WWE TLC 2019 where KAIRI would suffer a concussion early into the match.
KAIRI recalled the match and said it was Asuka who was able to keep her safe throughout the rest of the bout. The interpreter said,
“When the bell rang, they went outside the ring and the chair hit her right in the head full force by accident. It was kind of messy but she was fine for a while and five minutes passed, and after a while, she realized ‘why are there so many fans, why do I see multiple TLC signs? I think I’m having a concussion, not feeling so well.’ She told Asuka what to do, thankfully Asuka brought her through along the match and the match thankfully ended.”
