Roman Reigns will defend the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Jey Uso in a Tribal Combat match at WWE SummerSlam 2023.

Fightful Select has shared some details about how much longer Reigns might remain champion. Reigns has held the title for 1,066 days thus far.

One WWE source reportedly responded, “Whenever Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman say it f***in’ ends.”

It’s said that when Reigns will indeed lose the title, both he and Paul Heyman will have heavy input as to who will dethrone The Tribal Chief, whether it happens at SummerSlam or another year or two from now.

Another WWE higher-up also said the following,

“They are constantly looking at every possibility. When they think it’s the very best thing for business, they’ll know to switch it up, do it right, and really make someone doing it.”

The report further states that WWE never had any active plans for Reigns to lose the title to Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 39.

In addition, plans were never seriously considered to have Reigns drop the Undisputed Universal Title at any event earlier this year, including against such names as Sami Zayn, Cody Rhodes, or Jey Uso who he faces tonight.

Speaking of the WrestleMania 39 match between Reigns and Rhodes, WWE officials were reportedly “very transparent” about how the plan would work for the title match, with The Tribal Chief going over, and then The American Nightmare Rhodes engaging in a long-term feud with Brock Lesnar.

Reigns and Heyman were also reportedly informed that The Head Of The Table would be going over at WrestleMania 39 well ahead of time.

Moreover, the WWE higher-up justified the decision to have Reign defeat Rhodes at WrestleMania 39 by noting that Reigns is “hotter than ever,” The Bloodline’s Solo Sikoa is about to become a big-time draw, and Jey has now turned into a “legit attraction” in WWE. In addition, Cody was said to have become hotter than where he was before WrestleMania 39 despite the shocking loss.
