Former WWE Superstar Melina is brimming with pride for Zelina Vega following the LWO member’s performance at the Backlash 2023 pay-per-view event.
Earlier this month, Vega unsuccessfully challenged SmackDown Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley at WWE’s first pay-per-view event in Puerto Rico in over 18 years.
During an appearance on “Muscle Memory,” Melina shared her reaction to Vega’s performance and the ovation the Superstar received at the show. She said,
“It was beautiful to see the flag and everything that she did and her tears. It’s a beautiful thing to do it for your family, for your culture, and especially since her father’s passed. It’s as if her father is still with her. By doing that, it’s like finally he gets to see it. Everybody gets to see it.”
“To see her from who she was then and how far she’s come now, who she is and what she’s doing, to be at a pay-per-view doing something like that, I am so proud of her.”
Melina last competed for WWE as part of the 2022 Women’s Royal Rumble match, which was won by the returning Ronda Rousey.
