Michael Cole has said he wasn’t phased by the threat of an attack while WWE was in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Last week, WWE hosted their latest Saudi show, WWE Crown Jewel 2022, the eighth event as part of the company’s lucrative deal with the nation.

Prior to Crown Jewel, Saudi officials informed the U.S. that an attack by Iran was expected, and could take place while WWE was in Saudi Arabia.

During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Cole was asked if he was concerned about the possibility of an attack.

“Not at all. There was a threat, but we were in the capital city of Riyadh. We had assurance from a number of different places including the State Department.”

Cole was not concerned that they’d be attacked during Crown Jewel, but recalled being worried during a Tribute to the Troops event in Iraq.

“In Iraq, we got bombed… We were in the middle of Baghdad and we were actually putting up the ring in the little arena that we had built and they sent three mortar shells our way. So, we got shelled while we were building the ring. The last mortar landed about 75 feet from where we actually were.”
