Former ROH World Champion Michael Elgin is claiming that Impact Wrestling’s decision to remove him from programming is a breach of contract.
Elgin signed with Impact in 2019 and was given an Impact World Championship feud with Brian Cage before being suspended in June 2020 following accusations of sexual assault.
On June 26, Impact announced Elgin would be removed from all future programming and his contract would be terminated.
In the suit, Elgin claims that this suspension and later termination was a breach of his “Anthem Wrestling Exhibitions, Professional Wrestler Booking Agreement.” He adds:
“The wrestler’s reputation and fame is dependent upon the entertainment and content company to deliver television programming to the mutual benefit of the wrestler and entertainment company.”
Elgin adds that Impact Executive VP Scott D’Amore told him there would be no investigations into the allegations.
On December 10, 2020, D’Amore allegedly said via email that “the company’s decision not to utilize you in further programming was not based on any investigation beyond the public disclosures (and your responses thereto) at the time.”
