Mickie James Believes WWE-Saudi Purchase Would Harm Public Perception

WWE being sold to the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund would be something of a public relations nightmare in the eyes of Mickie James.

This month has been dominated by reports of Vince McMahon’s attempts to sell WWE, and it was reported that the Saudi PIF had purchased the promotion.

Those reports were later debunked, and James spoke about the possibility of the Saudis buying WWE during an appearance on the ‘Wrestling Perspective’ podcast. She said,

“Even if the Saudi Arabians were going to buy it, I don’t feel like they’re going to come in and change the infrastructure or change anything. They just want to own it.

“I do think it changes how the public views the product in the sense of, do we lose American TV rights? What about the Tribute to the Troops? What happens there? Also, what about the comfort level, obviously, of anyone who happens to be gay on the roster, or even the comfort level of a female on the roster?”

James was released from WWE in 2021 but returned to compete in last year’s Women’s Royal Rumble match.

The wrestling veteran captured her fifth Impact Knockouts World Championship at last night’s Hard to Kill 2023 pay-per-view event.
