On a recent edition of the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, former Impact Wrestling Knockouts Champion Mickie James discussed the future of the Damage CTRL stable following their loss to Team Bianca Belair in the Women’s WarGames last month at WWE Survivor Series: WarGames 2023.
James predicted that Damage CTRL would eventually implode and turn its back on its current leader, Bayley. She said,
“I am interested to see how it’s going to turn out. Is there going to be tension within Damage CTRL? I feel like Bayley’s been kind of ostracized a little bit, here and there. Maybe she doesn’t see it, but I kind of see it … I feel like Kairi, IYO, and Asuka are going to totally turn their backs on Bayley. What I’m interested to see is what Dakota is going to do and where she’s going to lie within all of that. That’s my opinion. Watch your back, Bayley.”
In other news, injured AEW wrestlers and longtime friends Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly recently had a conversation on social media in response to a clip of their singles match that took place seven years ago at ROH Final Battle 2016.
Cole tweeted, “The toughest matches of my career have been against @KORcombat Would not be the wrestler, or the person, without him. Thanks for making me better. There is no Adam Cole without Kyle O’Reilly. Period.”
O’Reilly replied, “It’s been an honor to make magic with you. Can’t wait to do it again someday sooner than later @AdamColePro Thanks for being my friend.. and greatest opponent.”
O’Reilly has been sidelined since June 2022 due to a neck injury, for which he underwent fusion surgery. He later had complications that extended his recovery process.
Meanwhile, Cole suffered a broken ankle at AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam, which also put him out of action and required multiple surgeries.
