Pwinsider have some additional news on Major League Wrestling’s new television deal with Reelz. It was previously reported that MLW had secured a new deal, and that their new series will begin on February 7th at 10:00 PM EST.
MLW Underground will be the promotion’s flagship show moving forward. MLW Fusion will remain on Pro Wrestling TV and BeIn Sport. Fusion will still have new content, but Underground will now be the promotion’s top series. Underground will be exclusive to Reelz and will not be re-aired on YouTube.
Internally, there was a great sense of hope and accomplishment now that the Reelz deal has been completed. Reelz strongly support promoting the company, and MLW believes that this is the end of their search for a TV partner. MLW have shored up their production staff ahead of their debut. Gary Juster and Delirious being hired are a reflection of this.
It also represents the biggest platform that MLW has aired on to date – Reelz is available in over 68 million homes. The promotion has yet to announce or tease anything. MLW was burned in the past, trying to hype announcements to the audience. MLW’s belief was that their Tubi deal last year would be transformative for the company and then that went to hell literally hours before it was to be announced publicly (which led to the current MLW vs. WWE lawsuit making its way through the courts in California).
Because the show will be airing on Tuesdays at 10:00 PM, it will have a similar SmackDown-to-Rampage relationship. Fans can move over to MLW after NXT ends. The promotion will also air vintage MLW footage at 11:00 PM weekly.
The series first episode will be headlined by MLW World Heavyweight Champion Alex Hammerstone taking on EJ Nduka in a Last Man Standing Match. The next MLW live event will be their SuperFight ’23 show that will take place at the 2300 Arena in Philly on February 4th.
