On Tuesday night, it was reported that Jamin “Jay Briscoe” Pugh had tragically passed away at the age of 38 following a car accident in Laurel, Delaware. The fatal collision occurred around 5:30 PM EST.

A report from ABC affiliate WMDT in Delaware confirms that there were two fatalities, with one of them being Jay Briscoe. The other fatality is believed to be the driver of the second vehicle.

The Shore News Beacon is reporting that “four patients were trapped” in the fatal accident. They also confirmed that there were two fatalities, with “two critical patients.” One of the patients was referred to as “pediatric.”

While we can not confirm some reports that Jay’s children were in the car at the time of the crash, it has been revealed that Mark Briscoe was not in the car with his brother.

It should also be noted that the Laurel School District, where Jay Briscoe’s daughters attend school, will be closed tomorrow. They wrote,

“Due to an unthinkable tragedy in our community this evening, The Laurel School District will be closed for tomorrow, Wednesday January 18, 2023. Schools will be reopen on Thursday. Please keep the Pugh Family in your thoughts and prayers.”

Jay was a decorated pro wrestler throughout his career. He won the ROH World Championship twice, and he captured ROH tag team gold alongside his brother Mark thirteen times. The Briscoes were named Tag Team of the Decade by Ring of Honor for the 2010s. They were also the 2021 Tag Team of the Year. In March of 2022, The Briscoes were nominated to the Ring of Honor Hall of Fame.
