According to a report from Fightful, there are more than several wrestlers that are heavily interested in traveling from the United States to wrestle for NJPW. With the travel ban being lifted, we are now starting to see more and more wrestlers from companies (like Impact Wrestling’s Ace Austin, for example) crossing over to compete for NJPW events, such as the “Best of the Super Juniors” Tournament.
Having said that, there are several wrestlers who have yet to make that jump, most notably from AEW. Over the past couple of years since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, NJPW wasn’t going to bring in anyone from the United States for “quite a while” and told those wrestlers to “hang tight” until things got better and returned back to normal. In the meantime, NJPW has been working hard to get visas to bring those talents in.
However, there are still multiple wrestlers who have yet to get their chance, including several in AEW. Over the past two years, they were told NJPW wasn’t bringing anyone in from the US for a while, including US-based wrestlers they had under contract. Those that have asked about it were told to “hang tight” during the pandemic and several were told that things would be back to normal soon.
Another important note is the fact that there are several “highly sought out” free agents that hoped to go to NJPW. However, the company failed to capitalize on this due to the pandemic. Now that everything is going back to normal (or as normal as it can be), the window of opportunity has now opened for multiple wrestlers to make their move across the seas if they’re given that opportunity to make the jump.
