During a recent interview with Steve Fall of “The Ten Count” podcast, former SmackDown Women’s Champion Natalya discussed the current status of women’s wrestling in WWE and whether she believes there will be another Evolution pay-per-view event.
You can check out some highlights from the interview below:
On if Natalya believes there will be another Evolution pay-per-view: “I absolutely think there’s another Evolution pay-per-view. I think that there’s too many talented women in WWE to not have that happen. I think about the women that I’ve got my eye on like Tiffany Stratton, Sol Ruca. I think about Indi Heartwell. Zoey Stark, Roxanne Perez. Gosh, Kacy Catanzaro. There’s just so many women in NXT and on the main roster, women that don’t always get their flowers like Dana Brooke, like, Piper Niven, Aliyah, Xia Li. There’s so many women that deserve a chance to shine and something like Evolution will be huge for them.”
On wanting more championships in the women’s division: “I think that we need more championships. We need more representation. Next year for the Hall of Fame, I want two women getting inducted. We have all these men getting inducted. I just think it’d be so cool to have two women get inducted. There’s so many women that deserve to be in that Hall of Fame like Miss Elizabeth, like Michelle McCool, like Layla, like Victoria, like Mickie James. The list goes on and on.”
On working hard to get on this year’s WrestleMania card: “I fought for everything I have. I fought tooth and nail to get in WWE, I fought tooth and nail to get out of developmental, I fought tooth and nail to make a difference on SmackDown. I fought tooth and nail for us to become The Hart Dynasty. I fought tooth and nail to be a part of 13 WrestleManias and 11 matches, a new world record. I never take this for granted, including this WrestleMania, the biggest WrestleMania in WWE history. I earn my spot here by staying ready year-round by busting my ass, by giving back to anybody that I get into the ring with by, you know, literally shedding blood, sweat and tears to be a part of this and earn my spot and to be able to help somebody like Shotzi, who this is her very first WrestleMania. I think back to my first WrestleMania, my husband’s, my uncle’s. It is such a special time of year and even though I’ve been a part of many, it doesn’t change the fact that it’s special as hell to be able to do this and I’m excited to continue to make history.”
