El Phantasmo returned at ‘NJPW Destruction In Kobe’ and discussed his comeback after the event.
Phantasmo returned to assist Hiroshi Tanahashi, allowing him, Oleg Boltin, and Toru Yano to retain the NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Championships.
Following the show, NJPW released a backstage promo clip in which Phantasmo addressed his return, emphasizing the need to “let go of the past.”
Phantasmo said, “New Japan is my home. I want to be in New Japan Pro-Wrestling. Jado, I am sorry it took me a month, but I figured out what was wrong and what I need to do, what we need to do. We need to let go of the past. We need to say goodbye to GoD. Guerrillas of Destiny was a good time in our lives, but now, that’s behind us. We need to focus on the future.”
He continued, “My goals in New Japan Pro-Wrestling start now. I want to main event Ryogoku Hall. I want to win big matches in Osaka, I want to have marquee matches inside the Tokyo Dome. I want to do fan signings with everybody who’s supported me in Japan. I want to represent this company as the best professional wrestling company on the planet, and I’m gonna do that by becoming one of the best professional wrestlers on the planet today. For a long time, I’ve been underrated, and I’m gonna do everything in my power to get rid of that word associated with my name.”
Ryohei Oiwa has officially joined TMDK, and Zack Sabre Jr. commented on the new addition after the NJPW Destruction In Kobe event.
Oiwa joined the group at Sunday’s show, and Sabre addressed the matter in a post-match promo.
You can check out some highlights from the promo below:
On Oiwa joining the stable: “That’s what I’m talking about. This was destined. I always wanted Oiwa and Fujita together, but there was one man, one of the most important men in the history of my career, Yoshinari Ogawa, and Ogawa-San is a very difficult man to please. But I was paying a lot of attention to Oiwa in NOAH, and when Ogawa-San says Oiwa was doing good, Ogawa-San’s good is amazing. So it was destined, actually, no. F**k destiny. You control what you want. So Oiwa had to come in TMDK, and then he’s not starting from the bottom. Next NEVER [Openweight] Champion.”
On TMDK’s future: “Next month, I stop being the G1 winner, and I start being the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion. I’m gonna be the top of New Japan. TMDK [will be] on top. We’re all getting to the f**king top, baby. New Japan starts from Ryogoku, and TMDK are gonna lead New Japan not to heights, to bigger heights. [NJPW] is the best wrestling company in the world. TMDK is gonna make it f**king better.”
