There has been a decline in New Japan World subscriptions, with numbers returning to the same level as in 2018.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that current subscriptions have dropped to 100,000, a decrease from the 140,000 reported in January 2023 during Wrestle Kingdom, which featured the match between Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay.

The last recorded count of 100,000 subscriptions was in January 2018, coinciding with the highly publicized match between Omega and Chris Jericho.

This decline signifies a decrease in New Japan Pro Wrestling’s current popularity compared to previous years. The service, which was launched in 2015, initially had 20,000 subscriptions.

It is worth noting that the subscription numbers typically increase every January during Wrestle Kingdom and in the summer during G1.
