David Finlay’s NJPW contract is reportedly nearing its expiration.

Fightful Select is reporting that at this point, both NJPW and Finlay are leaning toward continuing their partnership. The company is reportedly eager to keep him, and sources suggest that he is expected to stay with New Japan.

Finlay, a fourth-generation wrestler and the son of Fit Finlay, has been a key figure in NJPW since his debut as a “young lion” in 2015. He has captured the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship, NEVER Openweight Championship, and other titles during his time with the company.

Finlay currently serves as the leader of the Bullet Club’s War Dogs faction, and he’ll defend his IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship at Wrestle Kingdom 19 on January 4, 2025, against Yota Tsuji. Additionally, Finlay will compete against AEW’s Brody King at Wrestle Dynasty on January 5, 2025, also at the Tokyo Dome.
