Paige VanZant is looking forward to her first AEW singles match. The former UFC strawweight recently made her AEW debut this past Sunday at Double or Nothing.
VanZant recently spoke to The Schmo about training for her first singles match and her excitement for it. She said,
“I’m feeling great, I went out there, we got the win … I showed everybody I’m meant to be a pro wrestler, too. I never give myself a perfect grade. There’s always room for improvement. I’m only going to get better. I just started training pro wrestling, but you got to see how quickly I picked up pro wrestling moves, and I showed all the girls in the division they got somebody to look out for. I came out of this match unscathed, I have zero injuries because I put on a dominant performance. I can’t wait for my solo match.”
VanZant has been rumored for an in-ring return to Bare Knuckle Fighting. She still has one more match on her contract, and the rumored match may take place on July 9th in London, England. While there isn’t any confirmation on when VanZant’s first AEW singles match will occur, her participation in the PPV indicates that the company has at least some big plans for her.
VanZant indeed looked right at home in her AEW debut. American Top Team (ATT) founder Dan Lambert has been partially responsible for former UFC fighters like VanZant appearing on AEW. We’ll have to wait and see if she’ll continue to get more time to showcase what she has to offer.
