As has been the theme of this month, former AEW wrestler Bobby Fish has had some strong words to say about CM Punk. Over the last week, Fish called Punk a “scumbag” and a “c*nt,” with the former Undisputed Elite member clearly expressing vast disdain for the “Straight Edge Superstar.”
According to a new report from Fightful Select, the reason behind the problems between Punk and Fish originally stemmed from issues surrounding their October 2021 match. The report notes that “even backstage detractors of Punk” reached out to offer greater context to where the issues began.
During the match between Fish and Punk, the former would kick out/attempt to kick out of Punk’s ‘Go to Sleep’ finishing move near the count of three, and as a result, the issues between the two were born.
You can see a clip of Fish’s kick-out below:
"You ask me to put my shoulders down for Phil Brooks, I go out and do it."
Well, kinda. Might've been a part of the issue. https://t.co/Ck0CLyiu2q pic.twitter.com/tGcdofD4AC

Fish’s decision to react to Punk’s finisher in such a way reportedly left several people who were backstage at the time confused, with them presuming Fish would know such a decision would only go down poorly.
It was noted by one AEW veteran that Punk had taken some time to get to the pin, however it was in the interest of selling for Fish. Following this incident, there reportedly was not a great deal of communication between Fish and Punk.
