Mercedes Mone’s debut at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17 may not have been flawless, but that may not be the fault of the former Sasha Banks.

Mone’ debuted at the January 4th event by confronting IWGP Women’s Champion KAIRI, who had successfully retained her title against Tam Nakano.

The former RAW Women’s Champion delivered a Gory Bomb on KAIRI which did not look good, and on Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alverez explained what happened. He said,

“What happened was, she was going to do the Gory Special and as she spun her around, KAIRI was supposed to land on her feet to take the DDT. And for whatever reason, and I actually have some conspiracy theories and heard some too.

“For whatever reason, KAIRI spun around to her knees, so there was no head to grab for a DDT and so Mercedes had to fall on her back and do the move. But it was not her fault, ok. So, I want to make that clear cause I’m a fair man.”

KAIRI vs. Mone’ has been confirmed for NJPW Battle in the Valley on February 18 in San Jose, California.
