According to a report from Pwinsider, John Cena’s latest run in WWE has come to an end following his loss to Roman Reigns at Saturday night’s SummerSlam pay-per-view event. The reason for this is because Cena has filming commitments.
As of this writing, Cena is only scheduled for the WWE Smackdown TV tapings at Madison Square Garden in New York City on September 10. There is no word on if he’ll get physical during that show but it appears unlikely at this point.
WWE is currently going under the belief that Cena will not be available for them for the foreseeable future due to filming commitments. As of this writing, there is no word on when he’ll return to the company.
During his latest run, Cena wrestled a total of 14 matches (dark matches & live events included). At his own request, Cena actually made more appearances than WWE had hoped for. The timing of his current run helped promote the DC Comics film The Suicide Squad.
