Some additional details of the backstage fight between CM Punk, Ace Steel, and The Elite have surfaced.
According to a report from Fightful, the interaction lasted for “about six minutes,” with Brandon Cutler, Christopher Daniels, and Pat Buck all trying to diffuse the situation.
One person who is high up in the company noted that no one should expect to hear much of anything publicly due to possible legal issues that may stem from the incident.
Additionally, The Hoffman Estates Police Department says they don’t have any reports of an incident that involved their department. They issued the following statement,
“Hoffman States Police Department does not have any police reports, nor any documentation that police were requested, during the AEW All Out event for anything that allegedly occurred backstage. The only police response at the event was regarding a family issue in the audience.”
Of course, if the police weren’t called and nobody wanted to press charges, there would be no police report. However, charges could be filed at a later date. Many people are involved in real-life fights on a daily basis and the police are never called when the parties go their separate ways.
As you’d expect, many of the talent in AEW are not happy with the way CM Punk handled things at the All Out 2022 media scrum. Some talent who would typically support or defend CM Punk said they would have never went as far as Punk did.
It’s also worth noting that multiple wrestlers are still in the dark about their creative plans for tomorrow’s episode of AEW Dynamite. Several longtime wrestlers in AEW say they don’t believe there’s any way to solve the issues other than for Tony Khan to fire CM Punk.
Additionally, it is said that CM Punk’s anger with Hangman Page is not connected to the rumors that Page has worked “stiff” with other wrestlers in the past. AEW agent Arn Anderson once advised Page to “lighten up” in the ring. With that being said, Page is “generally well-liked” in AEW outside of this. Until earlier this year, Hangman Page and CM Punk always seemed to get along.
Several additional sources say they haven’t heard about any heat between MJF and CM Punk. Of course, CM Punk name-dropped MJF as being one of the “stubborn kids” he had to work with.
According to a report from Dave Meltzer, Ace Steel might’ve felt protective of his wife because she had a broken foot and wasn’t able to move out of the way during the fight.
And finally, it was reported that CM Punk was in the trainers room backstage following his match, but before the media scrum. As of this writing, there is no word on how serious his injury is.
