Fightful Select reported today that one aspect of the creative environment in WWE that Vince McMahon inspired in recent years was where meeting notes had to be heavily edited due to insensitive language and incorrect information.
The meeting notes were also edited because McMahon would call people the wrong names and use terms that weren’t socially acceptable. The assistants on the creative writing team needed to filter the now-former WWE CEO, Chairman, and creative team lead for “a long time.”
One former production employee confirmed the stories about McMahon blowing up at the announcers on headset due to minor issues. The source was quoted as saying, “If a live feed of Vince McMahon on a headset any given night ever made it out, that it would provide a picture of that production experience, especially for the announcers. There were plenty of times he was in a good mood, but he would blow up at the most ridiculous things and act like they ruined an angle that was far past its expiration date anyway.”
One person noted that in terms of the creative process, the biggest change they expected under Triple H was, “Recall of what we have and haven’t done repeatedly. There were so many things that Vince insisted on doing that I’m pretty sure he didn’t remember doing over and over again, even when people would tell him.”
The report also noted McMahon didn’t remember some of the things he had done creatively in the past. As a result, those things were done over and over again.
