According to a report from the most recent Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE NXT UK Women’s Champion Toni Storm had a major match in Japan blocked by the WWE.
Storm was doing a tour of the Stardom promotion this week. She picked up victories over Tam Nakano on May 3rd and Andras Miyagi on May 5th. On May 4th, she went to a 15-minute time limit draw with Momo Watanabe.
New AEW signee, Bea Priestley captured the World of Stardom Championship on the May 4th show.
The reported plan was to build to a match between Storm and Priestly on the May 16th show in Korakuen Hall.
According to the report, WWE put a stop to this match because they did not want their NXT UK Champion bass and somebody associated with AEW. This was doubled down on because it would have likely been a title match and Storm would have had to lose.
Now, the current plan for the show on the 16th is Storm facing Kagestu and Priestley defending against Hazuki.
