Rockstar Spud was recently interviewed by News Hub to hype TNA’s upcoming house show in Birmingham, England. You can view some highlights below:
On being a Starlight ambassador: “I was a wish for Reegan (a child with a life threatening heart condition), he could meet anyone in the world and wanted to meet me which I feel is ridiculous! I’ll have to ask him when he’s older what he was thinking! It really was most humbling experience I’ve ever had in this industry, you can be given all these great things like championships, but it means absolutely nothing when you meet someone like Reegan who you see with a smile on his face and what pro wrestling does for him and how it makes him feel, it’s essentially about putting smiles on people faces and nothing about anything else but that. When I was approached to be an ambassador I was so taken aback but I’m going to do everything I can to raise awareness and money for this charity. One of the wish grantors went to Lapland with 12 families, that’s pretty awesome. Anyone can contribute, you really don’t understand the difference it can make. One girl all she wanted was to feel like a princess, they took her out for the day and when she returned they had transformed her bedroom into a princess bedroom – that sort of stuff goes a long way.”
On his homecoming appearance in Birmingham: “I’m really sentimental about that building (Birmingham Arena) because I used to work directly opposite for Lloyds TSB and sit there looking out the window thinking I really want to wrestle there. My dream came true a couple of years ago but then I wasn’t coming home a hero, I was the hated chief of staff but this time I’m coming home the ultimate underdog so I’m really looking forward to seeing the fans that have supported me over the years. It’s Kurt Angle’s farewell tour, it’s a shame to see him go, he is the greatest of all time. If TNA are listening Birmingham is the place, Rockstar Spud vs Kurt Angle. The atmosphere would be electric!”
