SANADA revealed after the G1 Climax 33 Tournament that he competed while injured.

The reigning IWGP World Heavyweight Champion shared on Instagram that he suffered a “distal biceps tendon tear.”

Prior to losing to EVIL in the quarterfinals, SANADA had a 7-0 record. He took part in the show on Sunday by joining the team of Taichi, DOUKI, and Yoshinobu Kanemaru to take on HOUSE OF TORTURE (EVIL, SHO, Yujiro Takahashi, and Dick Togo).

SANADA will have some time to recover because NJPW’s next event isn’t until September 8. However, he is still expected to make an appearance at Impact Wrestling’s Emergence pay-per-view event on August 27.
