At Friday’s Impact Hard To Kill pay-per-view event, Santino Marella was revealed as the new Director of Authority for Impact Wrestling, replacing Scott D’Amore who is currently on the shelf following his beatdown at the hands of Bully Ray last week.
A report from Pwinsider suggests that WWE let the trademark on “Santino Marella” lapse at some point, and Anthem Media capitalized on the opportunity by filing for the trademark on December 19th. Additionally, Marella has signed a full-time contract with Impact Wrestling.
On May 6, 2016, Marella was released from WWE. He continued to make sporadic appearances for WWE over the next four years.
