The stormy weather in Calgary, Alberta, Canada on Saturday night brought some trouble for AEW, as the feed for Battle of the Belts VII cut out mid-broadcast.
AEW Battle of the Belts VII was in the middle of the AEW Women’s World Title match between Toni Storm and Taya Valkyrie when the live feed cut out. AEW then aired commercials before showing footage from this past week’s episode of AEW Collision.
When the live feed returned, it was explained that the weather in Calgary caused satellite issues. It is true that there were very severe t-storms going on in the city when the feed cut out. It was also noted that Storm retained the title, and the show will be available in full on the TNT app.
In other AEW Battle of the Belts VII news, Orange Cassidy nearly lost the AEW International Championship during his title defense against Lance Archer.
After Lance Archer attacked Cassidy’s injured arm and dominated the match, the reigning champion managed to narrowly secure a victory via countout.
Cassidy was checked out by AEW’s medical team following the match.
Cassidy has held the AEW International Titles for 276 days thus far.
