The entertainment company responsible for movies such as The Green Knight and Hereditary, A24, is set to release a biopic on the Von Erich family.

Deadline has posted some details on the casting for the Von Erich biopic, which is titled The Iron Claw. Jeremy Allen White (Shameless, The Bear) has been cast as the late Kerry Von Erich. White joins Zack Efron (The Neighbors, Baywatch) who will be cast as Kevin Von Erich, and Harris Dickinson (The Kingsman, The Darkest Minds) as David Von Erich.

White will be working on the film while FX’s breakout hit, The Bear, is on hiatus. The upcoming film is written and directed by Sean Durkin and is being produced and co-financed by A24 and Access Industries.

The film will follow the story of the rise and fall of the Von Erich wrestling family dynasty. VICE’s first season of Dark Side of the Ring covered the story of the Von Erich family tragedies. Kevin Von Erich, the last remaining brother detailed the tragedies that befallen his siblings due to drug abuse and suicide. Kerry Von Erich (The Texas Tornado), who became the most recognized Von Erich, reached global superstardom as a WWE Superstar. He defeated Ric Flair for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship at Texas Stadium at WCCW’s 1st Von Erich Memorial Parade of Champions event in 1984. Kerry also won his first WWE title at SummerSlam 1990, defeating Mr. Perfect. Following losses to the likes of Rick Martel, The Undertaker, and Shawn Michaels, Kerry would make his exit from WWE in 1992.

Kerry lost his right foot due to a severe motorcycle accident in 1986. His brother Kevin explained in the Dark Side of the Ring episode that Kerry tried to walk on the injured foot prematurely and it resulted in his foot needing to be amputated. Kerry kept this injury a secret from fans and peers for many years during his short-lived wrestling career.

In 1993, Kerry Von Erich passed away after committing suicide. He was only 33 years old. He was posthumously inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, along with other Von Erich family members: Fritz, Kevin, David, Kerry, Mike, and Chris Von Erich in 2009.
