The WWE NXT North American Title has been vacated.
Despite winning the title just last week, Solo Sikoa was forced to vacate the championship during the opening segment of this week’s episode of WWE NXT 2.0.
In a pre-taped segment, Shawn Michaels called Carmelo Hayes and Solo Sikoa into his office. The “Heartbreak Kid” announced that Sikoa was not originally scheduled to face Hayes when he won the title last week. Due to this, it was announced that he is not the champion because those are “the rules.”
This led to Sikoa giving up the title and it was announced that he’d be returning to SmackDown. Michaels wished him luck on the main roster and then told Hayes that a new champion will be determined in a five-person ladder match at Halloween Havoc.
It appears as though plans changed over the past week because it makes little to no sense to have Sikoa win the title, only to drop it one week later in a segment that was clearly pre-taped and inserted into the broadcast.
