Swerve Strickland & RUSH Get Into It On Twitter, Kota Ibushi Considered Retirement

Swerve Strickland and RUSH will be facing off against each other in the AEW Continental Classic tournament on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite.

On Sunday, the two men had a back-and-forth on Twitter to hype the match.

RUSH wrote, “You have grown as a wrestler since the last time we faced and I easily beat you.

We will see each other again now in #AEW and I will remind you that you are still a child, and I am your father.

I will show the world who is the real superstar

Te voy a desmadrar perro !!”

Strickland then responded with the following,

“You think you can man handle me like that on THIS stage in @aew? Wrong.

You aint been to where I’ve been and done what I’ve done. Wed, I turn the bull into bulls**t”

RUSH then clapped back with the following,

“You are right, i’ve never been where you have been or done what you have done.

I have been to worst places, more violent environments and I have DONE MORE THAN YOU EVER HAVE without even speaking English.

I am your new f**king nightmare PERRO. See you at #AEWDYNAMITE”

Kota Ibushi says he considered retiring after being out of action for over a year due to a shoulder injury.

During a recent interview with Pro Wrestling NOAH to promote his match with Naomichi Marufuji at the NOAH ‘The New Year’ event, Ibushi said,

“I’m not sure when it will be over for me either. I’m not the type to set my own time frame, so I want to do as much as I can. But…well…if I can’t do it anymore, if there is no more demand, I think it’s the end. If there is no more demand, I ask them to cut me off immediately. I’m the type of person who says that if I find out, I’ll quit immediately. Conversely, Mr. Marufuji is the type who decides. He has five years left. I hope I can play a role in that time.”

He continued, “(I thought about retiring because) my shoulder injury was the biggest thing. I can’t move as much as in the past, as everyone wants me to. I have to use different techniques there. Of course, with my career, I can change things by doing different things, but if someone says, “That’s not what we want to see,” then that’s the end of me. That’s the end of the road for me. So in my case, it could end tomorrow. It could be a year from now, or it could be 10 years from now. I don’t know. When there is no more demand, it’s the end.”

Ibushi is currently signed to All Elite Wrestling.
