ESPN confirmed today that The Great Muta (Keiji Muto) is set to join the 2023 WWE Hall of Fame class.
Muta was previously reported by Pwinsider to be announced for the class. Ric Flair made the formal announcement on WWE’s “The Bump” earlier today.
The Great Muta is the alter ego of Muto, first portraying it in 1989 for the NWA before bringing the character to Japan.
Throughout his career, he worked for promotions such as All Japan Pro Wrestling, NWA, NJPW, and Pro Wrestling NOAH. He is a former AJPW Triple Crown Heavyweight Champion, NJPW IWGP Heavyweight Champion, and Pro Wrestling Noah GHC Heavyweight Champion.
Rey Mysterio was announced as the first inductee into this year’s WWE Hall of Fame class.
