The man who attacked Seth Rollins on Monday’s episode of RAW recently spoke with the New York Post and continues to believe he has “legitimate beef” with Seth.
As we’ve been been reporting here on eWn, Elisah Spencer jumped the barricade and blindsided Rollins, tackling him on the rampway before WWE officials and security came out. He was later arrested and charged with attempted assault and attempted violation of arts and cultural affairs (disrupting live sporting event).
Spencer claims he’s apologized to WWE, saying,
“I apologized to the WWE for my actions. I had a legitimate beef but as a grown man I could have settled it a different way. If I saw him today I wouldn’t attack him. I’ve moved on.”
As far as Spencer’s claims that the two men have “legitimate beef,” he says he met Rollins at a meet and greet and then believes he interacted with him on WhatsApp. It should be noted that he was actually talking with someone pretending to be Rollins. When Spencer asked the fake Rollins for help in launching his own wrestling career, he said “Rollins” asked him to send gift cards in exchange for money to see if he was “loyal” and asked him to be a “wrestling blogger” for him. Spencer said,
“He was asking me to send him gift cards in exchange for money, mostly $500 or more to see if I was loyal. He asked me to be a wrestling blogger for him. I wanted to work my way up.”
The fake Rollins then sent a $3,000 check for the gift cards and it bounced. Basically, it’s a classic “catfishing” scheme that Spencer fell for but he insists he was talking to the real Seth Rollins.
Spencer then went on to say that he was trying to help Finn Balor, who Rollins attacked as part of a storyline during Monday’s RAW segment. He said, “My plan was to help Finn Balor. I’m a fan. I like his aura, his attitude. I like everything about his charisma. I like everything about him. I jumped from where I was sitting at. I ran and speared Seth Rollins. I busted his lip open and he caught me in a headlock. I broke the headlock and I was trying to get him, then the referees and the security guards broke us apart.”
Spencer went on to say that he communicated with Rollins through social media accounts under his WWE name and his real name, Colby Lopez, and was blocked on social media by Rollins’ wife, Becky Lynch.
Spencer was released from custody yesterday and is due back in court next month.
