As we’ve been reporting here on eWn, PCO smashed the TNA Digital Media Championship with a sledgehammer at ‘The People vs. GCW’ event.
PCO later claimed that TNA management low-balled him during negotiations for a new contract last year and that he was not the only one in this situation.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that TNA Wrestling offered lower salaries to several talents or planned to switch them from guaranteed contracts to per-event deals.
The talents affected were those regarded as “overpaid” and signed by former TNA President Scott D’Amore. This group included PCO, Rhino, Trent Seven, KUSHIDA, and Jade Chung — all of whom parted ways with the promotion when their contracts expired last year.
Moreover, a similar scenario unfolded with the Motor City Machine Guns, who had a close relationship with D’Amore.
D’Amore was reportedly committed to making promises to the talent, but once he was let go from TNA Wrestling, the new management chose not to honor those commitments.
PCO was promised the TNA World Title at one time, although it is unclear whether that assurance came from D’Amore or later.
PCO was believed to be expecting the TNA World Title as a reward for selling out a show in Montreal.
Nonetheless, TNA Wrestling has signed Nic Nemeth, AJ Francis, Frankie Kazarian, Mustafa Ali, Masha Slamovich, John Skyler, and Ash by Elegance to new contracts.
