Rich Swann has been suspended from TNA Wrestling and will reportedly be entering rehab.
According to a report from POST Wrestling, Swann was arrested for disorderly intoxication back on June 8th in Altamonte Springs, Florida. He was charged with both disorderly public intoxication and causing a disturbance. The charges are both misdemeanors.
TNA Wrestling officials are saying that Swann will be entering a substance abuse rehab program and has been suspended pending their investigation into the matter. The company was unaware of the arrest until they were recently contacted by the media about it.
The arrest report states that Swann attempted to forcefully enter an apartment at 9:50 PM on June 8th. The resident who lives in the apartment told police that he was in the shower and heard a loud banging on the door after his son started yelling for him. The man got out of the shower and headed to his room and grabbed his gun, telling Swann that he must leave. Swann allegedly started yelling “This is my house,” after which the resident said they opened the door and showed their gun. At that point, Swann backed up and left the property.
The resident then contacted the police and when they arrived, he notified them that Swann had fled toward the nearby woods. For what it’s worth, the apartment is right around the corner from Swann’s own address. While the resident said he didn’t want to press charges, his door was damaged.
As police were on scene, they received another call from a woman in the same neighborhood who said she’d gone to her son’s apartment to pick up some deliveries and encountered Swann, who began trying to talk to her and started following her. When the woman told him to stop, Swann replied with, “What do you mean stop following you?” As she began running, he followed her to her door but she was able to get inside and lock the door before Swann could get in.
An intoxicated Swann was later located and police took him into custody. The officer reported that he smelled alcohol on Swann’s breath and his speech was slurred. Swann admitted that he had been drinking, and when asked by the officer how many he had, Swann replied with “A lot.” Swann added that he had begun drinking about three hours before.
Swann was taken to the John E. Polk Correction Facility in Sanford, Florida and released the next day on a $250 bond. He submitted an Affidavit of Indigency, which is an application for a public defender for those who cannot afford an attorney. He was denied the request and charged $50. Additionally, Swann listed himself as “homeless” on the application even though he has a home address according to other records. He will now be defended by a private attorney.
Swann was charged with the same exact offenses back in September of 2022 after causing a disturbance in his apartment complex and was fined $351.49.
TNA Wrestling has issued the following statement on the matter:
“TNA Wrestling takes any and all charges against its performers seriously. Rich Swann is responsible for his own personal actions.
“He has informed TNA Wrestling that he is voluntarily entering into a substance abuse rehabilitation program. TNA Wrestling has suspended Rich pending the completion of its investigation into the incidents.”
