Real1 expressed his lack of enjoyment in calling matches in the ring, noting that it’s simply not “fun” for him.
During a recent interview with Buff Bagwell, the former Enzo Amore stated that he has no interest in calling matches since he does not find it enjoyable.
Real1 said, “I haven’t talked or called a match in forever and I did just call one recently and to me, it was like, ‘ugh.” Like, there’s no fun here. It was just high spot after high spot, and it was like, ‘Where is the in between? Where’s the thinking?’”
He continued, “I’m just having a lot of fun doing what I do, and that to your point is unlike anyone else in this entire business right now and no one knows. The indies don’t want to tell you, they don’t want to admit it, but they know if you’re wrestling Enzo, he’s going to see you in the ring and you’re going to shut the f**k up and he’s going to give you one of the best matches you’ve ever had in your life.”
Bully Ray thinks Joe Hendry should have won the TNA World Championship at TNA Bound For Glory 2024.
Hendry is set to face Nic Nemeth for the title at TNA Genesis 2025 next month.
During a recent edition of the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, Ray mentioned that he believes Hendry’s momentum has stalled, while Tommy Dreamer supported TNA’s current booking.
You can check out some highlights from the podcast below:
Bully Ray on Hendry’s TNA momentum: “I think TNA missed the boat on Joe Hendry months ago. Joe Hendry should’ve been your World Champion already; he was hot, hot, hot… Joe wasn’t able to capitalize on the opportunities and TNA wasn’t able to capitalize on Joe Hendry.”
On Hendry cooling off: “As of talking right now, is Joe Hendry’s wave of momentum anywhere near what it was three-four-five months ago?”
On Hendry and Jordynne Grace’s momentum outside TNA cooling off: “Sure, the people that are there are gonna go insane for it, because Joe Hendry is over with the TNA crowd. The Joe Hendry wave — as of right now — is not the same that it was when he had the music hitting and he was on NXT… I’m sure they’re still real hot with the TNA crowd, and that’s fine, but Jordynne and Joe were bigger in wrestling than just TNA… I’ll just say: six months ago.”
Tommy Dreamer on Hendry’s TNA direction: “With NXT he’s on a much larger platform, that’s why we’re talking about him. I have done, completely by design, the ‘Steve Austin’ where you hit the music and done different things on the same show, and still, every time you hear his music the people go insane for it.”
