On a recent edition of the “Story Time” podcast, Gail Kim recalled being blocked from meeting Vince McMahon, despite talent being encouraged to seek him out. She said,
“He was hard to get to. He always had those people always saying, ‘You gotta’ talk to Vince,’ like when you’re not being used or when you wanted to pitch something. People would literally wait outside his office, hoping to get a meeting.
“I remember the one time I attempted to do that, I got blocked by one of the writers. And he was like, ‘Yep, no, he’s busy. You can’t be here, you can’t do that.’ So I never tried again after that.
“It was like my one shot I tried at, and I guess I should’ve tried again, to be honest, but I didn’t. It was very intimidating.”
Kim debuted on WWE’s main roster in 2003 and won the WWE Women’s Championship in her first match on Monday Night RAW as part of a battle royal.
After leaving in 2004, Kim became a cornerstone of TNA’s Knockouts division and became the first Knockouts Champion in 2007.
After returning to WWE in 2008, Kim left in 2010 with her final match seeing the Canadian eliminate herself from a battle royal. She would later return to TNA.
