Nic Nemeth may be the reigning TNA World Heavyweight Champion, but Joe Hendry believes himself to be the face of the promotion.

Hendry’s popularity has proven to be undeniable in recent months and in addition to appearing for TNA, he has been appearing for WWE NXT.

On a recent edition of the “Sports Guys Talk Wrestling” podcast, Hendry spoke about his plans in TNA and his lofty estimation of himself. He said,

“I believe I’m the face of TNA Wrestling. I don’t need to believe that, you only need to look at the metrics, you only need to use Google Trends to see who the face of TNA Wrestling is and it’s me. So what needs to happen next is I need to go for the TNA World Championship so I need to put myself in a position to become the number one contendership and I need to go after what is mine.

“As John Cena said to Cody Rhodes, when you don’t have the title, you need to be the champion without the belt and I am the champion without the belt it’s time for me to be the champion with the belt.”

Hendry was one of the competitors in the six-man match at Slammiversary 2024 that saw Nemeth win the TNA World Heavyweight Championship.

On this week’s edition of WWE NXT, Hendry defeated Joe Coffey of Gallus. On this week’s episode of TNA Impact on AXS TV, Hendry defeated Wolfgang, also from Gallus.
