TNA Wrestling’s Josh Alexander couldn’t hold back his emotions after the controversial departure of Scott D’Amore from the promotion.
D’Amore was cut from TNA by parent company Anthem shortly after the successful relaunch of TNA with January’s Hard to Kill pay-per-view event.
Fans and wrestlers alike took issue with the move, as D’Amore had captained TNA through difficult times and had been a force behind the relaunch.
On a recent edition of the “Insight” podcast, Alexander recalled the departure of D’Amore from the promotion. He said,
“When I first found out, he was [fired] I teared up. I’m not going to lie… he coached me along and gave me so much help.
“It felt like the rug was just pulled out from under you, right? So it’s like, how do you react to that? How do you feel about the relationship we built?”
TNA talent filed a letter on behalf of the roster, urging Anthem to reconsider, but D’Amore was replaced by Anthem executive Anthony Cicione.
D’Amore has since relaunched Maple Leaf Wrestling which hosted two events in October featuring Alexander and other TNA talent.
