According to a report from Deadline, TNT and TBS General Manager Brett Weitz is exiting the company. Weitz was also the GM for truTV, and will be transitioning out of the position over the next 30 days. His final day with the company will be the same day as his 14th anniversary with the network.
Weitz became GM of TNT, TBS, and truTV in August of 2019. He’s reportedly described as a well-liked executive who played a big part in helping the networks grow into top primetime channels. He will be leaving after it was decided that his position was to be eliminated during consolidation in the wake of the merger.
There’s no word on how this will affect AEW, as Weitz was said to be an “ally” of the professional wrestling promotion and worked closely with Tony Khan. With that being said, AEW Dynamite is often ranked in the top 5 cable originals on Wednesday nights so they are more than likely safe.
