AEW recently removed CM Punk from the cover of its upcoming video game, Fight Forever. This comes after he had been placed in the center of the cover before his hiatus from the promotion.
CM Punk and Ace Steel got into an altercation with Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) after AEW All Out 2022 following Punk’s comments at the post-show media scrum.
AEW and CM Punk have been in talks about buying out his contract following the incident. It’s been reported that Punk is ready to move on from AEW and is pushing for the promotion to buy out his contract.
In an interview with DAZN, AEW President Tony Khan was asked about Punk.
“I’m sorry, I can’t comment on that,” Khan said. “I appreciate you asking about the video game. I’m very excited about it. It’s a huge project for AEW, and we’re very excited. The release is coming, it’s imminent, and when it will be released, I really think fans around the world are going to have a great experience. And hopefully, it’ll make some new wrestling fans and some new AEW fans, which would be great for everybody who works here. That’s something we’re excited about.”
